Ceramic Care Guide
How to cherish your ceramics
My pieces are created to accompany you in your daily rituals for years to come. To preserve their beauty and longevity, please treat them with a little extra tenderness.
1. Cleaning
While most of my pieces are dishwasher safe, I highly recommend hand washing to preserve the depth of color and the unique texture of the glaze for as long as possible. A soft sponge and mild dish soap are the best choice for handcrafted ceramics.
2. Aesthetics & Natural Aging
Ceramics made from light clay or finished with a matte glaze may develop subtle marks from cutlery or stains from coffee and tea over time. This is a natural process that adds character and tells the story of the object's use. These marks can often be removed using a simple paste of baking soda and water.
3.Understanding Thermal Shock
Ceramics, especially handcrafted stoneware, can be sensitive to sudden and extreme changes in temperature. This phenomenon is known as "thermal shock" and can cause even the strongest piece to crack or break.
To keep your ceramics safe, please avoid:
Rapid Heating: Do not pour boiling water into a very cold mug or bowl. It is always better to "pre-warm" the piece by rinsing it with warm tap water first.
Extreme Shifts: Never move a dish directly from the refrigerator into a hot oven or microwave.
Cold Surfaces: After removing a hot piece from the oven or microwave, avoid placing it directly onto a cold surface like marble or steel. Instead, use a wooden board or a cork coaster to let it cool down gradually.
